Primitive-style hand carved crucifix accompanied by two souls in Purgatory; Jesus has a darker worn-out body caused by the smoke of the candles lit by the believers too close to the image. Beneath the cross, two souls or “Animas” “burn” in purgatory and at the bottom, a skull represents Death. The souls are portrayed naked, with burning flames on their feet; both are paying for their sins and their destiny is going to be heaven or hell. The “Ánimas” are Patron Saints of souls in Purgatory waiting for the End of days. “All Saints Day”, November 1st, honors them. Images rest on a blue painted stand. Many different layers of paint can be found in this extremely well conserved carving form the Guatemalan Highlands. Please notice that the price includes FREE USPS Shipping.
