This piece represents a Xecalcoj Dance; during Easter, the people from Totonicapán celebrate the season with this rare dance. The Xecalcojes gather under an arch, and on the top of it they put fruits. They dance around the arch for several times and finally they will reach the fruits and give them to the crowd. The Xecalcojes have beautifully facial carvings, especially the wrinkles of his smiling gesture and the teeth. The mask is highlighted with Horse hair made beard that gives the masks an incredible expression. Patina on the back denotes use; the mask had bug related problems but it has been already healed. Please notice that the price includes FREE USPS Shipping.
