The word "Patzcar" means Boss; the plot of the ceremony is the life at a ranch and the cowboys that work at the ranch are played by Indigenous people. The Patzcar has a wife or daughter, the "Patzcarina"; the cowboys will fight each other with whips (for real) to earn the love of the Patzcarina. The winner will take her away, fooling the boss. Most of the Patzcar Masks have white skin, moustaches, chin beard and some even have sunburned cheeks, indicating the European roots. This character has fine carved hair and sideburns and a prominent chin beard that gives the character a great look. Great patina on the back and restored nose and right lower cheek denote many years of use.
