You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ----- Antique Ceremonial Conquistador Mask used during the Dance of the Conquest. This character represents a Spanish soldier; a captain or a simple combatant. During the Dance, they will fight against the Mayan Warriors. The golden painted carved hair and moustaches denote the exquisite ability of the artist, long extinguish. The high relief sideburns, fine hair lines and stylistic moustaches made this piece, a reference for future representations of this character. Sunburned ears, nose and cheeks; red lips and golden painted eyebrows give this Conquistador a beautiful look. The skin has many layers of old paint and fractures all over that have been fading away, caused by use in time and created a curious look for the mask. Fine nose and ear carvings are masterly made. The piece has a fracture in the lower chin’s paint. The piece has a stunning look with many different layers of paint as well as an incredible backside patina that tells the many adventures and events that this piece has overcome.
