Beautiful primitive-style hand carved image representing Saint John the Baptist with a lamb sitting in his left hand with the gospel. His cloths are a gorgeous white dress with lovely marguerite flowers with golden details and a maroon cape. A very sweet expression can be seen in his face adorned with moustaches and beard and tiny black glass eyes and fine eyelashes and eyebrows. Many layers of paint can be seen on this piece, a sign of the years that the piece has overcome. The piece has a blue painted stand in where it sits in not a very stable position; his right foot is loose. Saint John is the last of the prophets of the Old Testament and the first saint of the new. He predicted Christ’s coming and he baptized Him saying: “behold the lamb of God”. He is the Patron Saint of dealers and tailors, he is also identified with the forces of destiny, and he also protects shepherds. Please notice that the price includes FREE USPS Shipping.
