An extraordinary example of a Huipil from Momostenango woven in 2 panels on a foot loom. The designs consist of yellow and green rhombuses which are woven with a natural dye in contrast with a red (alizarin) and indigo (blue) weft lines. Traditionally Momostenango never uses brocade for its weaving designs; the patterns are made with a tye dye technique (jaspe). The V-neck is decorated with indigo embroidered thread. The randa or joining band is made with cotton thread. The patterns will represent stars or planets, arrows and mountains.
