The following item belongs to the range of “Antique and Rare Items of the Casa de Artes’ Treasures Series”. This red huipil from Patzun is woven in two panels on a back strap loom.  The piece shows four selvedge ends.  The warp background is woven with cotton and shows a red background and warp lines. The opening for the head shows two half-moons, made with green cotton cloth and cotton embroidery.  The randa is embroidered with wool. The geometric designs will represent the sun, moon, and curly patterns known as “fichitas” (1/2’s coins).
