One panel ceremonial tzute for a “Vara” (septer) woven on a back strap loom. The piece has macramé on both sides and pompons only in one end. The piece has some reparations. The background is woven with different colored lines. Geometrical designs: crosses and arrows. Zoomorphic designs: birds.
Age: Approximately woven in the 1930’s

Origin: San Juan Cotzal, El Quiché
Materials: Cotton, wool, stranded cotton; natural dyes: indigo and indigo plus.
