This rare mask represents a warrior, or Mayan Soldier that fights the Spanish Conquistadores. Notice the nicely carved hair decorated with curls on both sides. The skin is dark grey painted trying to give the character’s brunette color an even more dramatic look highlighted by red blushing cheeks caused by the effort of fighting. The skin and dark hair are the main differences between Spanish and Mayan masks, the carvings are the same. Red nose and forehead tell that the character is sunburned. Painted eyelashes and eyebrows accompanied with beautiful light brown glass eyes and red lips give this piece a vivid look. Notice the golden teeth representing its higher social status.
