On December 7th people celebrate the famous “Quema del Diablo” – Burning of the Devil, a purification ritual before Christmas Celebrations. Dancers dressed with red and black costumes will dance around the bonfires. The character is not necessarily evil; some pieces will be decorated with diverse symbols to represent different kind of personalities, good or evil. This piece has two green lizards with blue and red dots carved in his face, representing a fast and hard to catch devil. Large black painted eyebrows and small painted eyelashes decorate the top of the mask. Curious wooden tusks and big round lips give the piece a superb look.
