The Convite Dance is a parade that is performed to start the festivities to honor the patron saints of the villages. The Convite usually has all sorts of modern characters that entertain the children with cartoon or TV personalities, but also during the parade the owners of the Ranch or Fincas are usually mocked as these two masks representing the “Patrón and Patrona”, Boss and Boss’ Wife show. The masks are made of a very light wood; both pieces were made at the same Moreria. Only men are allowed to perform, so a man dressed as a woman will use the Patrona mask. Gracefully carved hair details, tiny eyelashes, mouth, cheeks and nose details denote the ability of the artist. Both pieces had bug related problems but were already healed. Please notice that the price includes FREE USPS Shipping.
