This character represents a cowboy from the Pacific Coast. This region is famous for its cattle and farms. Many highlanders come to the coast looking for an extra income and work during the harvest season in the lower lands. High relieve carved hair and painted moustaches and sideburns give the piece a serious look. Notice the thick eyebrows, black painted seed-made eyes that highlight the looks of this hard working cattleman; a rare detail on a Guatemalan Masks. The backside of the piece shows the hardness of the wood smoothened by the constant use during the ceremonies. The Morería recently re-painted the mask, a common practice by the workshop to have a "shiny" looking mask for the ceremonies. This Vaquero or Cowboy appears in the “Baile Convite”, a disguises parade. Please notice that the price includes FREE USPS Shipping.
