The town of San Pedro Necta is located in the highlands of the Cuchumatanes in Huehuetenango. Its name comes from Saint Petter and the Maya language Mam which signifies “where the river flows”. This exceptional huipil is woven in one panel on a back strap loom, with four selvedge ends; but is it joined in a horizontal way (not in the vertical method that it is traditionally used.   The opening for the head is made by joining together the panel. It is decorated with a fine hand embroidery stitching. The geometric designs are brocaded with cotton and symbolized the planets, stars and corn plant.
