During the Moors & Christians dance, they will fight each other representing the Crusade. Spaniards brought the dance to Guatemala telling tall tales about their victory over the Muslim Invasion. The Dance is sometimes called “12 Pares de Francia” -12 Pairs of France, in a reference to Charlemagne and the Catholic overcome. The Christian side is represented with blond, white-pale skin characters; meanwhile the Moors are portrayed with black hair and dark skin. This piece has extraordinary carved golden painted moustaches and chin beard. The eyebrows have very rare parrot decorations. Notice the superb blue painted eyes that give the piece a unique look. The mouth has tiny perfect teeth; the light blue chin represents the recently shaved beard of the character. The exaggerated red skin represents the sunburned skin of the Cristiano. Great patina on the back tells us the long journey the piece had. Please notice that the price includes FREE USPS Shipping
