A detailed and unusual every day Huipil from Santiago Atitlan woven in two panels on a back strap loom with four selvedge ends. This every day garment has a purple, white and orange striped background and is decorated with cotton brocaded and embroidered designs. The embroidered designs are a representation of the flora from the Atitlan area: bids, roosters, ducks, squirrels, opossums and wild cats; while the woven patterns show the representation of mountains around the lake. The panels are joined with a randa (joining band). The collar is decorated with the three Atitlan Volcanoes on the sides and round hand embroidered patterns, representing ¼’s coins.
