This piece has very rare horse hair details all over the face; a gorgeous large pink lizard covers the nose and large white tusks decorate the Devil’s face. On the top the devil’s head, two painted horns and a red edge highlight the forehead. Many of the Guatemalan Devil Masks have animal figures as beautifications. On December 7th people celebrate the famous “Quema del Diablo” – Burning of the Devil, a purification ritual before Christmas Celebrations. Dancers dressed with red and black costumes will dance around the bonfires. The character is not necessarily evil; some pieces will be decorated with diverse symbols to represent different kind of personalities, good or evil. Scary red painted eyes surrounded give a dramatic contrast to the piece. Please notice that the price includes FREE USPS Shipping.
