She has a tin crown and a mark in her stomach from the workshop it comes from that apparently reads carver or “Escultor …” and a name that can’t be read. Colonial Houses in Antigua had a large collection of Religious Images as decorative items. The piece is “undressed” because the owner would have dressed the image according to his taste; most of the times with robes. Notice the carefully carved ears, nose and lips; beautiful brown glass eyes highlighted by eyelashes and blushing cheeks give the piece a lovely expression. The piece has articulated joints in order to present different positions and gestures. The figure sits on a wooden stand. Her hands are in mint original condition, and notice her carved breast, a very rare feature for such a piece.
